How To Add Google Analytics For WordPress Blogs

It doesn't matter whether your created your blog with WordPress or blogger. But to be really successful in this blogging world, you must have to increase website traffic and the smartest way is start tracking or analyzing your blog users. Knowing your audiences that how they interact with your blog is very crucial part behind the success of blog. 

If you want to be a successful blogger then it time to track the traffic statistics. Its time to track who visits your site, at what time and for how much time he/she stays on your site. From where they arrive on your site. How much sessions they made, clicks and impressions your site or blog have. Users visited by using which browsers and through which search engines they came i.e Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc. Track current or real time traffic, bounce rate etc. Bounce rate shows you how long users stays on your site.

The above mentioned all things can be tracked by using one tool called Google Analytics. GA is  a free tool with so many features offered by Google itself. From the above mentioned features you had already learned why website analysis is important and how GA will help you in achieving it. So, let see how you can install or add google analytics to WordPress blogs.

Create Google Analytics Account

Its good to add Google Analytics with google webmaster tools. So, why not go in that manner.
  • linking Google webmaster tools with google analytics.
  • Creating only google analytics account (directly go to step 4).
Step 1 :- Login to Google Webmaster Tools
You have to add your WordPress site to Google webmaster tools. If you have already added it then no need to add it again.

Step 2 :- Go to Manage site >> Google Analytics property.
You will find it below ADD A SITE button or on the right hand side of you blog title.

Step 3 :- Click on Create Google Analytics account.
Now you will be redirected to google analytics login page.

Step 4 :- If you do not want to link your blog with google webmaster tools (not recommendable). Simply skip above 3 steps and login to Google Analytics (below steps will be same for both the methods).
You need google account to login in google analytics. Sign in with your google or gmail account and click on sign up.

Step 5 :- Fill the form and create analytics property.
Now, you will be redirected to next page, where you have to enter few details regarding your blog like blog url, blog title, country etc. Enter the details and click on Get Tracking ID button. See the snap shot below.

Step 6 :- Select your country and click "I Accept" on pop up page of "Google Analytics Terms Of Service Agreement".

Step 7 :- Now, you will get Google Analytics Code.
If everything goes fine, you will get the Tracing ID and Tracking Code (see in the snap shot below) which you have to copy and paste, into your WordPress blog template.

Install Or Add Google Analytics To WordPress Blogs

There are several ways to add google analytics code in your blog. I'm going to explain you the best 3 ways. You select according to your comfort. 

Option 1 :- Copy the tracking code (obtained in step 7) and paste it into your WordPress theme.
  • Go to theme setting >> add footer script
  • Paste the code. 
WordPress is all about plugins. So, in the other two ways we will use free WordPress plugin.

Option 2 :- Download Insert Header and Footer.
Paste the code in plugin's setting page.

Option 3 :- Download Google Analytics for WordPress.
It the plugin by Yoast. Just download it and configure it.
  • Go to setting >> Google Analytics Settings.
  • Click on "click here to authenticate with google".
  • Save it and you're done.
Congratulations, you've successfully added google analytics with your WordPress blog. It will take approx 24 hours to show your blog report. After that just go to google analytics dashboard and track your blog report.
